Thanks Cking, but I"m not sure how promoted I am. If I actually took the hours I now work and divide it into my new "salary" instead of hourly pay, I think I'm probably making less per hour Wink
But I am enjoying the change.

We all are aware when we see a Police car. That said, they should be aware that we a watching them. If your driving and a Police car doesn't stop for a stop sign, what message does that send? If they roll up to a stop sign, red light and turn right what message does that send? If they dirve above the speed limit and when you pass the donut shop and see them entering what message does that send? I know that the donut shop is old but it still applies, was almost run off the road last summer by a Police car at 2 in the morning only to see them parking at the donut shop when I went by (we were the only 2 cars on the road).

Not everyone is an ill-informed "arm chair critic". Yes, it's a dangerous and sometimes demanding job that serves the public. But to use that as an excuse to be relieved of blame for any wrong doing is ridiculous. Valid points of concern have been raised (some ... not so valid). And these valid points are very warranted and need to be said and deserve to be heard. Don't even think for a minute that a cop has the right to do whatever they want for no valid reason. Nor do they have a right to treat people like idiots.

Many cops are good. Many are not. And I have no tolerance of the jerks that feel they are above it all.

When we stop being "armchair critics" and we stop commenting on the wrongs we see in society...or when we are afraid to comment...or when we are no longer ALLOWED to comment on the wrongs we see in society, then we become a totalitarian state.

And we are at the mercy of our political leaders and our police. (Not that this hasn't happened in many parts of the world!)

We must continue to be vigilant and "spill the beans" whenever we see something going on that is unacceptable. It's the only way to retain a true democracy!

When we identify certain groups that are above criticism or above reprimand, (like priests, police officers, leaders, doctors, etc.) then we surely give them "carte blanche" to do just as they wish. And, in the end, ordinary people will be the victim. (And it's not as if THIS has not occurred in recent history as well!) Let's learn from it!

Well said, cking. Just because you put on a uniform, collar and have initials behind your name does not mean your an honest, caring and good person. In the past we have looked up to and been intimidated by uniforms, collars and initials. As we (society) have become more educated (or old and cranky) we guestion more. And so we should. If I am honest ,try to be caring and try to be a good person I expect no less from the others I deal with.
