| 2 teenagers killed in one week.. in both cases alcohol and driving was a factor
I refuse to call these accidents.. these situations could've been prevented!
why on earth do people choose to be so irresponsible?

yeah, I guess I shouldn't have really asked.. the answer is pretty simple indeed. I guess I am just really disgusted and saddened by people's disregard for the safety of others and themselves. My heart really goes out to the family and friends of these 2 girls taken so young.

| I really don't understand why people aren't getting the message. Every week I read about someone else being caught driving while under the influence. These two events, they are not accidents when someome purposefully drinks then gets into or onto a vehicle and causes someone to lose their life due to the driviers negligence. We have now lost two young women who had so much life ahead of them, their families and friends lives are shattered, now left with knowledge that this should never have happened, that they should be looking into their daughters eyes each day and not at a coffin or gravesite. How many people did drink and drive and dodged the bullet so to speak and made it home without killing or maiming anyone this past week. Wake up and stop playing russian roulette with our family members, take a cab, phone a friend, stay put..or better yet don't drink..spend the day or night doing something positive with your family or friends that doesnt involve alcohol. If you are hosting a party, take everyones keys, arrange for a sober driver to take people home if needed..be responsible ...it is your duty to do this. If you see a drunk driver on the roads, report it quickly and accurately so police can respond and perhaps save a life. These tragedies can be prevented, we should all try and do our part so our families and our kids don't have to go through what these people are going through. Imagine witnessing your beautiful vibrant 18 yr old daughter/sister/girlfriend/bestfriend mowed down before your eyes, the friends attening her funeral just days before what should have been her granduation. Now picture this for a 14 yr olds family and friends, days before the end of school, they should only be thinking of summer and fun....not funeral arrangements for this young girl. To the two guys who have to live with the fact that you have taken a life the courts will have to deal with you but I hope that when you look at yourself in the mirror each day, you remember that due to your negligence you ended an innocent life and shattered many peoples lives in the process. | |

| I agree Wickens... and then at least people will be safe while they are disqualified for that period of time. And maybe after 5 years, they might have matured enough to realize their errors and their immaturity and disregard for life.
Oh, I bet this family wishes the 14 year old had had enough sense not to get on the back with a person who was impaired! If only she had said NO!

| Both of these incidents could have been prevented. The summer hasn't even started yet! I have seen many (mainly men) through the years drive when they have had "a few". They seem to think they are ok to drive and they are not impaired. Is it really worth someone elses or your own life? It's the whole drinking culture. Many of these kids are experienced drinkers by the time they reach the legal age. Many (not every) grow up with partying parents and continue the tradition. I have personally made the decision a few years ago, not to drink any alcohol. I'm not saying that is the answer but at least we should be teaching our kids that #1 it is against the law to drink before you are 19 and #2 when and if you do decide to drink, do so responsibly. | |

| Myth Busters did part of a show on drinking and driving. It pretty much showed even one beer can affect your judgement. | |

| If im drunk i just get a cab, dont feel like risking a DUi losing my license for a year and paying 10 grand a year for insurance for the next decade, much cheaper to pay 20-40 bucks to get home. | |

| My question is, Where were the parents of this 14 year old girl that they would let her get on a motorcyle with someone who had been drinking in the first place? There is no way my daughter would have been allowed on that bike even after someone only had one or two beers. The whole thing just makes me so angry. Not only is she gone but whatever the relationship he had with this girl and her family is probably over forever now. If the parents were around I think they have some blame in this although I will probably get some flack for even saying this. | |

| Regardless of who this precious girl belonged to, he will now have to live with this for the rest of his life. As far as I am concerned, people who drink and drive and kill someone don't spend enough if any time in jail. They should not only spend a few years in jail they should lose their license for at least 5 years. | |

The newspaper said cousin.. but he is actually her cousin's husband. Yeah, I noticed that today myself. That has to be a pretty big stress on the marriage. Having your spouse kill your cousin in a drinking and driving accident has to be pretty serious in my opinion.

| My name is Gary and the name of my company is called WE GO Delivery. We Go Delivery has two services. One is already offered in the area which is delivery but the one that myself designed is an unique service. That service is Designated Drivers! You may or may not have seen my white WE GO Delivery van around but just know that Norfolk and Brant County's does have a designated driver service in the area and WE GO is available to not only get you home but also your vehicle too. This is the way I designed it. That way when you get up in the morning your vehicle is in your driveway, garage, etc. and ready for you to use the next day. WE GO Delivery's slogan is "THINK BEFORE YOU DRINK!
Take Care! | |
