SPLASH PAD CLOSED
Updated 20 hours ago

Kids wanting to cool off at the Simcoe Kinsmen splash pad on Windham St. are going to have to wait.

The splash pad will be closed from today until possibly next Monday. The county needs the down time to install a new drainage pipe at the site. However, if work is completed sooner, it may open on the weekend.

Once the splash pad is reopened, the young and young at heart will be able to use it daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It will close for the season on Sept. 1.

My question is...why was this not done during the off season for the splash pad? It is only open 2 months of the year and they install the drainage pipes during that time? Why take away one of the best cooling activities for children during the hottest weeks of the year?

........because it involves getting out of the truck....because of poor planning....because they are busy picking up leaves from last fall....because it costs taxpayers money....because it's not a high priority....because Langton and Waterford don't have one....Who knows? Laughing
It's a good point you are making, Watchman.

Could be a number of reasons. Maybe the drainage problem didn't show up till this spring after it was opened. Maybe the part took longer to come in than expected. (Most companies don't stock parts, they used "On time" system) Maybe the part isn't even made anymore and they had to look for a replacement.

Hi All!
Agreed.....not the best timing to close the splash pad, however, from everything I know, the installation of the new system components, will help the town with its sewage capacity issues, as well as extend the park hours, which have been cut back due to these issues.
