Hey cking, I know from previous posts of yours you dine out a fair bit. It has been some time since I've done that... on average what would it approx cost for a family of 4 to go out to one of the nicer establishments in town?

This has nothing to do with chimineas but...

We have this kind of challenge to "dine out" for $20 to $25. total for the two of us. If you don't have drinks or dessert, and select carefully from the menu, and perhaps order half-orders...and order only water...you can do it. Or just stick to appetizers...soup and salad. Or share an entree. We never order steak or prime rib or entrees like that.

Some places have become really expensive like I find Boston Pizza expensive and also places like Hemmings and the Erie Beach prices have gone up as well as the Blue Elephant. But some places are fair...like the Barrel is OK and The Hiway Restaurant. You get a good meal for a good price. I still like Christien's.

I eat out at least once a month. I belong to a group of friends who were in the business of education...not all teachers...some volunteers; some support workers. And we have kept in touch in this way over the past few years that we are no longer at the same school. We get to know the local eateries and have the opportunity to chat without anyone having to do the cooking!

You should be able to eat for $60 for four people. $100 if you have drinks and dessert.

Well, buying steak at Sobey's has nothing to do with chimenea's either, I'd like to see you cook one on one of those... last weekend our family of four had a BBQ dinner with 2 Porterhouse @ $15 each =$30, BBQ garlic mashed potatoes @ $4 = $34 and a BBQ foil wrap of delicious lemon butter fresh vegetables @ $8 = $42 and oh the kids had sherbert and my wife and I had a nice BOTTLE of wine for about $58 in total. I spent time with my family, watched a Disney movie and got lucky! Doesn't look like those $12 to $20 dollar steaks are so expensive does it. My point wasn't to say how expensive steaks are, because really they aren't, it is the Grand Scheme of things we have to look at. Our dinner was very inexpensive for 4 and the thought of a chimenea never crossed our minds. So my question to you is, what is the question? Oh Yes! How on earth does an intellectual question always go off into never, never land when you are involved?
Have to go, my propane BBQ is stinking up the back yard!!!! ;-)

"How on earth does an intellectual question always go off into never, never land when you are involved?"

Hmm....good question. I guess it's because I'm a lateral, not a lineal thinker....which reminds me of something else...hahaha.

Lateral thinker maybe I suppose you used your Math book in English class! The point of these forums are for users to read on the subject at hand... subjects that interest them!
Not to read off topic spewing at the keyboard idiocies when someone knows nothing of the topic at hand.

Don't call my postings "idiocies." By the way... are you the messageboard police? None of the moderators appear to have a problem.

Don't like my postings?...Don't read them. Simple. You can surely recognize my avatar...bright and colorful. It means..."mud:Do not read this post!"
Please refrain from reading my posts. I do not intend to refrain from participating.
