I don't mean Jamaican or Korean accents...I mean ACCENTS ladies' wear store in its new location in the old Walker building! (I have no connection to this business....just making a comment and giving a compliment.)

What a nice store inside ( so much larger that their previous location on Kent St.) ...a great renovation and a real asset to the downtown main strip.

Now anyone looking for ladies'wear can take a walk from Cher's on Robinson to Accents and Carmen Rose/Carter's and down the street to the new shop in the former Kindy's store...then down the other side to Orie, then Budd's and Currie's. And all the little shops in between. It reminds me of Paris, Ontario which also has a few good quality ladies' wear shops that attract out-of-towners for quality shopping.

I had to note the huge array and display of BELTS at Accents! Half a wall of amazing, beautiful belts...for anyone who still has a WAIST that needs to be accentuated with a pretty belt. I have never seen so many belts! Good luck Marie, in your new location!

So..are YOU visiting the downtown?

I find good things at the Bargain Store/old Woolworth's. Good clocks and picture frames and preschooler workbooks, toys, pillows, some clothing, socks, underwear, this and that. A good place to browse around.

SOMEONE must be shopping downtown especially on a Friday; you can hardly drive through or find a parking place!

Do you think their fears were warranted re. Walmart, the Superstore, etc? I have only been to Walmart twice but actually bought something both times.
HUGE parking lot. I don't think it will ever be full! I think their dreams exceeded the local reality.

Friday night is offshore worker night and a night were most locals get their paycheck and go dowtown simcoe to buy some dope

Take away the two of those and downtown doesnt exsist

I don't go Friday night. I shop through the week. I find The Source to have good people there..and Roulston's, of course, is always busy. And Al's Shoes has a constant lineup at the cash! Home Hardware is my preference with a stop for some fries once a month at Bev's/Suzie's. And the used kids' store Over The Rainbow. Lots of good things there!

Personally, I think the downtown might be benefiting from all the new stores and the traffic to Dover etc. Doesn't look dead to me! Ever try to find a parking spot?
