| Have you gone to see it? Got there about 25 to 7 and probably got two of the last 10 seats! Could not even sit with my friend. It seems it has been sold out every night since it opened! Amazing, eh?
I LOVED Mamma Mia...BUT there was a woman behind me SINGING ALL THE SONGS!! And a woman BESIDE me who laughed extremely LOUDLY thro the whole thing!! It was not that funny. But people tended to over laugh at all the parts that were mildly funny! Don't these people get out at all??? Or know the etiquette of a public performance!?GEEZ!! Meryl Streep was believable. The young girls were very good! The bridesmaids. Not sure I ever liked the ending. Kind of dumb! BUT still a great version of it! The scenery was good...and the Greek people ...the extras were very believable.
Some good shows coming.. A Flash of Genius I think it's called..the guy who went head to head with the Ford Motor Co. when they snatched his invention of the windshielf wiper!! Based on a true story. His court case etc.
And also The Express. The first black football player, I think. His experiences trying to integrate the league. Like Jackie Robinson and baseball.

| This story reminds me of a time i went to a toronto raptor and bluejay game. I was sitting there wondering why it was so damn quiet and no one was cheering or booing or tellin the other teams players where to go, so there I am after paying some good money for some good seats jumpin up and down and everyone is starring at me wondering if I was mentally challenged or drunk. But no I wasnt and am not, all i was doing was attendiong a live event trying to get into the game and having a good time, the problem was these people were all millionaires dressed in suits and I guess it was not in them to cheer at a sporting event or as if they thought it was inappropriate to make noises in a public place at a public event. Your at a theatre, not in your home, those people paid good money to go in there and watch the movie. Things like laughing and singing, crying or whatever is all part of the movie theatre experience. I was never quite sure if the people that never said a peep were shy or just hated the movie and being around other people. Sometimes you go to a movie and you pick out a quiet one in the crowd and just watch that person through the whole movie, they sit there sort of nervously lookin around to see if anyone is laughing and if someone else laughs then and only then will they follow suit, its kinda funny. You probably would of had more fun and not bin annoyed if you sang along and laughed with them. Not trying to jump on ya here but the movie theatre isnt church, its a place to go watch a movie and have a good time, now standing up infornt you or resting their feet on the back of your seat near your head or farting beside you is another story | |

| My wife just got back from the strand ...she went with our daughter . She raved about the movie and was impressed about the new look strand. This is from a person who has seen Mamma Mia live in T.O. three times. She actually has given me an ultimatum. When it comes out on DVD shes going to make me watch it . Not my kind of movie ..,no car chases or shoot em ups etc ,more like a chick flick ugh LOL | |

| I disagree Skully. A sports game and a movie theatre are not the same venue. I too saw Mamma Mia three times in Toronto. But even at a live theatre, there is a time to clap and a time to be quiet. They even ask you not to UNWRAP your candy and make that little bit of crackling noise! It has nothing to do with being millionaires! It has to do with respecting someone else's enjoyment. Moderation in all things. There are young and old people there...and those who are hard of hearing. Why would I want to hear someone else's singing when I paid to hear it ON THE SCREEN??
If you want to make excessive noise, rent the DVD when it comes out!
How about slurping your drink then, Skully...and talking out loud at the show? Is that OK?
And yes, I am SO HAPPY to have the Strand available so conveniently now. A 5 minute drive and park! Great place!

| I watched the movie this week at the strand and was a bit disappointed. It could be because I absolutely loved the live theatre performance which I've watched 4 times. The first two times I watched in the theatre, Donna was played by Camilla Scott. No one has come close to her performance, she was outstanding. If you only watch the movie I'm sure you will thoroughly enjoy it. But it doesn't come close to the live performance. I love the music but I wish the movie had people that had really good voices, I wasn't impressed with any of the characters singing in the movie. The scenery was beautiful but for me the only character I felt was believable was the girl who played Sophie. But that is only my opinion, it still is a good movie to watch. | |

| Yes. the theatre presentation spoils it for you. Nothing can match the original live version. But let's face it. It's really the ABBA music! It's timeless and addictive. Similar to Roy Orbison, Elvis etc. Their music dives deep into your soul!
Four is about as much money as people can stretch to see theatre in one year! $400!

| I have only seen the live performance of Mama Mia once in Toronto and it was fabulous. My daughter was a teenager at the time and really enjoyed it as well. I am a big fan of ABBA music but singing in the show just doesn't sit well with me either. | |

| I suppose you are right, cking
Sirius radio has different stations devoted to various artists - The Grateful Dead, Elvis, Springsteen and one station occasionally rotates star artists, playing only their music for a period (The Stones, Led Zeppelin). Now, that station is featuring ABBA for awhile. I tried listening but they weren't playing my fave - "Waterloo!" - so I went back to my usual music. I guess, once you have reached the status of Sirius featured artist, then you'd be considered timeless.
Anyways, I like your avatar - who is your pedicurist?
