| The best way I keep them fresh is buying what will be used in 3-4 days, I dont stock my fridge with 3 months supply of veggies to see them rot in 1 week.
Ive never shopped at walmart in my life

| I have not used the green bags....but I find those plastic boxes that the baby spinach comes in keeps the lettuce, salad fixings etc. fresh for a longer time. The spinach stays good for 2 weeks. I keep my onion in a paper bag in the fridge and it lasts for a long long time. I cut the bottom end off the celery and stick the whole stalk in a tall container of water. Stays crisp.
People who aren't able to get out several times a week due to lack of a vehicle or license, old age, disability etc. DO have to find a way to keep their veggies beyond 3 to 4 days. I am interested to hear how that works, Wickens.

Ive never shopped at walmart in my life why the sarcasm You misunderstood, just tellin ya what i do and the best way to keep things fresh. To often do i see people stock their fridges with 3-4 weeks worth of veggies that could feed 10 families only to see them all rot in a week or two and tossed in the garbage, then they ask why did this happen? What can I buy to keep them fresh? The best way to keep things fresh is to get what you need for a week at most, put together a plan, will have this on this day, will eat this on that day and so on for the entire week. This way everything gets used and nothing spoils and evertything stays fresh. The other things you try are more of a gimmick for people to spend more money on when the solution is just stop buying so much stuff you dont use or cant consume fast enough. A trick for tomatoes though is once you slice a few slices off, put it on a small plate cut side down in the fridge, doesnt need to be wrapped or stored in a container.

| My mom is one of those seniors who are not able to physically go to a grocery store on a regular basis. Not only does she not have transport, but is also unable to walk any great distances. She swears by these green bags - says they will keep her vegetables fresh for up to a month.
Now I've been taught not to argue with someone older than I (especially my mother!) but looking at broccoli that she has kept, she says, for three weeks, I would not eat it.

| I bought them. You have to follow the instructions very carefully though. You loosely tuck the ends of the bag over and place it in the fridge or where ever you store your fruits and veggies. You have to make sure that the fruits and vegetables are completely dry and have no moisture on them at all. The inside of the bag has to dry. If moisture gets in them, then that starts the decomposing process. Just pull them out, dry them off and make sure the green bag is dry. I tried bananas and after 3 weeks, I had 2 bananas left that looked like they did when I bought them. FYI- I bought mine at Canadian Tire ( lol ) | |
