| You got your hamburger....you got your milk shake and now you got your fries. What have you got? The Big Guy Special or a heart attack in waiting? Who makes the best fries? Probably Bev's Chip Wagon across from the LCBO in Simcoe. Does anyone really have a meal that consists of those 3 items on a regular basis. I used to... at one time but people are now more in tune with what's healthy and nourishing....even young people I think. How often do you have fries, a hamburger and a milkshake? | |

| The BEST sweet potato fries....at Callahan's/The Beachhouse...a bit pricy. (I think $5.99 for a basketful....but enough to share!) But I LOVE sweet potato fries and a salad. That's my favorite Callahan's order!
And no, I never order and never have ordered a burger, fries and shake all at once. On a hot day, I love to order a milkshake.
Remember Coke and rootbeer floats? As kids, my brother and the rest of us used to make them with rootbeer and drink them until we nearly threw up! Crazy! That kind of rootbeer scum that floated on top. Licking the spoon! Oh, my! I think I will make one for old times' sake!
And remember the ice cream that came in little cardboard cylinders and you pushed it out and there was a little cardboard circle "hat" sitting on top?? A very tidy way to store and serve ice cream.

| 6 bucks for fries? wow! Why dont you just recreate it at home for about 25 cents.
Best fries? hmm, most chip wagons with home cut fries and some of that dark vinegar on them is always good for me, other than that they really isnt much difference, I always lovd langton arena fries growing up;, Joeys seafood in simcoe has some sort of bbq spice on theirs which isnt bad, mcdonalds is on everyones menu since they were 4. We used to mix mayo and ketchup when we was kids and dipped our fries in it, havnt done it in a while but it used to taste pretty good and im sure you could dump some heat spices in it to kick it up.

| My niece and her hubby put curry in mayo and dip sweet potatoes fries in that. The $6 for the fries is for the view at Callahan's and the "ambiance!" And it's a big enough basket! And delicious. It's brought to your table...you know, service with a smile. And all that. I enjoy going out with one or a few friends and eat out and be pampered a bit and talk...talk..talk. (I miss the people part of my job since I retired.)
There are many things I don't spend money on...like pop...and cigarettes and beer and wine and golf and boating and cruises and hotels and bars and etc. So a basket of fries once in awhile is a treat. Or a massage or an outing to the theatre. A pretty simple life, really.

It was my grandparents who got me hooked on boating and fishing when i was 6 years old, I couldnt live without the lake today, nothing like being out there while the sun goes down and the water is like glass with all the suns reflections glaring off the water and a small cool breeze and a smally on the end of the line, ahhhhhh

| Some of the best fries I have ever eaten was at The Arbor in Dover. Also loved their foot long hotdogs, those were the best hotdogs I've ever had. Haven't been in years now so I don't know if they make those items the same way or not. We lived in Dover then and would go early in the year or after the summer when the thick crowds of people were not there. Sometimes they'd be 6 people deep across the entire counter area and you would be almost standing on the road. Maybe we should go back this fall now that I'm thinking of the Arbor again, good memories... | |

| The Arbor still has great fries and the vinegar comes in a spray bottle. Brilliant! You can get the vinegar to the bottom of the box without using a gallon of it. Now if they could only do something with the salt so in order to get some to the bottom it doesn't end up piled on top like a snow drift. Also the Coop in Port Rowan (when their oil is reasonably fresh) is good lots of fries for the money. | |

| I think the Arbor is not as good as it used to be. I think the hotdogs/the wieners are smaller and the buns bigger. Maybe to accommodate all those toppings! I prefer Willy's all around. (And no comment, Jonas, about Willys!) | |

| For the best fries in Dover go to Ralph Murphy's wagon at the car wash! In Simcoe it's definitely Bevs! | |

| We've been to the Arbor twice this year and I personally don't think the dogs are any smaller. I was kind of wishing the bun was a little bigger so I could get more stuff on my hotdog! Fries were great there also, we'll have to try Murphy's, his Dad had great fries when the booth was on the corner of the Erie Beach Lot and across the street when it moved (am I dating myself again!!!!) | |

| Hey, Patti, BYOB...bring your own bun! A great big panini bun! Now THAT would be an idea! And fill it up with the tomatoes and cucs and onions, zucchini relish, lettuce, radishes, and etc.
They have always had good fries at the Arbour. But I really think it's just the "tradition" and we all caught up in the nostalgia of the whole thing. Those were the days, my friend......

| OK, I will date myself. The Arbor should never have stopped using the top slice hotdog buns. They were the better than the "new buns". I don't go there anymore. I don't remember when they changed but it has never been the same. Now, the Murphyburgs at the original Murphy site were my favorite.
I only have fries on rare occasions.

| My vote is for Bevs Chip Wagon as well. Reminds of what the Arbor fries used to be like.
Now the Arbor fries are sometimes good, but sometimes a little on the hard side. The hotdog size is the same, I think, but you can't taste it anymore because of the loaf of bread that they put it in. Golden Glow doesn't taste nearly as good either - very watered down. It all changed when the Schneiders (sp?) took over.
P.S. Sorry for resurrecting slightly older posts. I'm new here and just kind-of jumping in and exploring.

I agree, we were at the Arbor recently and I found myself ripping away the bread on the Hot Dog.
