Ont. cops save David Lee Roth's life

Van Halen frontman suffers near fatal reaction

Two Ontario police officers have been credited with saving the life of Van Halen singer David Lee Roth - after he suffered a severe allergic reaction.

The rocker was pulled over on a stretch of highway in Oakland, Ontario on June 8 for speeding, and when cops approached the vehicle, they realized the star was in anaphylactic shock.

Roth has an allergy to nuts and was suffering a severe reaction after coming into contact with a contaminated substance.

The officers called an ambulance and kept Roth calm until paramedics arrived on the scene, according to CTV.ca.

Constable Chris Thompson admits he didn't realize that he was dealing with a famous rock star when he attended to the crisis.

He says, "At the time I wasn't star struck, I was just trying to help him. The guy stuck out like a sore thumb. He was wearing a little silk scarf and flashy clothing - it's not something you see in Oakland too often."

That's wild! I wonder what his career is doing these days anyway? Travelling through Oakland Ontario can't really be a good sign. I hope he is ok.

Yeah, if he was up in Orillia near Casino Rama it would make more sense.

He toured with Van Halen just last year. The tour ended when Eddie Van Halen had to go into rehab.

I saw the CTV television story on this. Roth has a friend who lives in Oakland and he had been staying there for a few days.

Perhaps the "good friend" gave him a peanut butter sandwich "to go"
I went to see Van Halen back in "the day". I actually wanted to see David Lee Roth, but that was just after he left. Sammy Hagar wasn't near as entertaining.

I thought I had read this ages ago. The guy is a peramedic

Rocker David Lee Roth has chopped his hair and toned down his high kicks in order to keep a lower profile in his new job – as a paramedic.

The former lead singer of Van Halen tells the New York Post that he has already gone on more than 200 ambulance rides through some of New York's toughest neighborhoods since he began training to be an EMT.

"It has been an eye-opening adventure," Roth, 49, says.

His past as a rock god hasn't gotten in the way of his new life-saving work. "Not once has anyone recognized me, which is perfect for me," he says.

Linda Reissman, who is Roth's EMS consultant and tutor, says the rocker is totally committed to his new line of work.

"He is very serious," she says. "You would never know you were dealing with a rock-'n'-roll guy, his commitment really is touching. He wants to help people."

Roth says he recently used a defibrillator to save the life of a Bronx woman who had suffered a heart attack.

Despite the life-and-death situations, Roth says working as paramedic isn't so different from being a rock star: "I am a member of a team again, and that's what a rock band always was."

It wasn't him....

Hey I was thinking the other day. The cops that spoke out about the supposed "David Lee Roth", were they not violating confidentiality? Even the nurses that "partied" with him. Were they not violating that clause???
