Any suggestions?
Thanks

| I am not a senior yet but may I suggest a ride along the lakeshores of our County. You could start with Port Dover, over to Port Ryerse and then follow the road down through Fisher's Glen, Normandale and on to Turkey Point. Lots of great homes and cottages to see in TP and then I would head over to Port Rowan and Long Point. Some nice shops open in Port Rowan on the weekend and I know that there is a great restaurant between Port Rowan and Long Point but I can't seem to come up with the name of it at the present time. In between these little villages there is always an ice cream shop open where you might even be able to get a cold drink or even a cup of hot tea. There is a nice little place in Normandale that could acommadate that need for a drink or ice cream and if my memory serves me right they have indoor and outdoor seating.
Whatever you find to do I hope that they and you have an enjoyable Sunday!

| Are your visitors local, under 80, over 80? Is mobility a factor?
If they are not from this area, perhaps the Elmira/St. Jacobs area. Something unique is visiting a micro brewery or a winery. The Strewn winery in Virgil Ontario has EXCELLENT food!
You might consider a trip to Long Point to the Wildlife Centre, bird sanctuary. If they lived in this area at one time, they might enjoy a road trip past former homes, schools, a trip down memory lane. Even visiting a cemetery to remember those who have passed.
Have fun! | |

| Port Stanley offers unique boutiques, a fish store, a train ride and a couple of really great restaurants, and Pretz's favourite....an ice cream shop too! On the way you could go to Sparta and visit the Old General Store and the Tea House. | |

| Mobility is not a problem, one is over 80 and one is 70. They are visiting from overseas although previously from Canada.
Thanks for your suggestions, please keep them coming!

| I thoroughly enjoyed "Winter Wheat" in Sparta, ONT. They have a website if you want to know about it, just google winter wheat sparta ontario. It also gives directions and I know there are a number of different shops in that area, also a tea room where you can get a light lunch that is very good. My only suggestion is not to go on a rainy day. There is walking involved at winter wheat but they also have a large barn with unique items for sale. I think the forecast for Sunday is sun and cloud and a high of 27. | |

| I totally forgot about Sparta and Port Stanley...two of my favourite places to go. Can you tell I have way too much on my mind at the present time? I love having lunch out on the deck of the one restaurant in Port Stanley. Good food and always a nice breeze. | |

| If they haven't been to the area, may I suggest Long Point Biosphere, a jaunt by the windmills down the lake (something to see if you haven't before), the to Dover for Dinner at Callahans (overlooking the lake) then to the Lighthouse festival Theatre, currently running the musical "Fire". | |

| How about the rental sightseeing boat on the dock at Port Dover pier...a nice tour of the Port Dover area...and dinner at the Erie Beach or Callahan's/the Beach House. That would be my favorite! And not too much walking.
Weather is supposed to be lovely. And make sure they take a jacket as it gets windy out on the water. Take some photos on the pier. Sit for awhile and watch the sun go down. Then go for an ice cream cone at Willy's before heading home.
There's also a concert in Powell Park..Greg Zaluski...a country singer from 6:30 to 8 PM. Bring your lawn chairs! The Sunday concerts start this Sunday!

| These are great suggestions. I'll share with them and let them decide.
I like the idea of not travelling too far and would appreciate your suggestions for local dining.

| Here's another idea, though I have not been there myself...Walters Family Dinner Theatre near Woodstock/Innerkip area. Friends highly recommend this musical production and buffet meal! Near the #401 it seems.

| It went very well thank you. We ended up going to the Broken Plate in Port Dover which was very good and drove around the Port Dover area. There were a lot of good suggestions so some will be put on the "to do" list.
We will be at Callahan on Thursday before the Theatre.
And I have emailed the Walters Family Dinner Theatre in Woodstock for information and I will see if we can work that into the schedule or put that on the list for next year's annual visit as it sounds very interesting.
I wish the Wine Opening mentioned in another thread was happening soon but again, we can do that next year.
Thanks for everyone's input.
