last day of school!!

So the kids slip into (or I mean, SLEEP INto!) different routines and expectations.

Boy! What a big deal it used to be in the past for me as a child and as a teacher! The last day of school! But now that I am retired, it means almost nothing...except that I will have my grandkids more.

Remember the excitement of leaving school and being in the next grade? Or being in HIGH SCHOOL for the first time? It was a breathless, life-altering time of your life!

...ahh but as we get older our breathless, life altering experiences mature and change...like now for instance...

a perfect BBQ'd steak has that same affect on me...

I can remember when i passed grate 8 I was recommend and has no tests to do so my last day was in the first week of June

It's the last day and for me it means trying to be in 20 places at the same time! Trying to remember to ask each teacher if they want their rooms set up any differently for next year, and what if anything they want removed and thrown out over the summer. But next week I get to start the BIG clean, all walls, windows, desks, chairs and floors done for New Year's Day (the Tuesday after Labour Day).

Yes, pattip, I remember how diligent you were and HELPFUL to me when I arrived at Our Lady of Fatima in Courtland! You truly welcomed me and helped me drag all the old dusty boxes out of that closet! And I appreciated it then and remember it now. We did some heavy-duty cleaning! And got that room in good order! Custodian is a big job and I admire those who take it on as a life work. You do not get enough acknowledgement for the work that you do!

Cricket too was a solid supporter to me as well in my career and a huge help many times over! Especially when my art lesson involved sparkles and acrylic paints and cutting STYROFOAM with my electric knife!! Those were the days, my friends! He never DID slap me with that mop for all the mess we made!

(By the way, did you know that an electric knife does a wonderful job when cutting styrofoam sheets in complex shapes? Now you do!)
