anyone remember this murder?

About 20 years ago, a young man was murdered in the Brook Conservation Area, I think. The man responsible lived in the apartment building on Oak and West St. with his mother. What sentence did he get and is he out yet?
Does anyone know the details of this case? I just remember my sons knew that boy and it was a tragedy. But time has passed and I have forgotten the specifics. Anyone?

I remember a teenage boy who was picked up by a guy from Simcoe who rode a motorcycle, he was picked up on the blue line at the top of the hill above the entrance to the Lynn Valley Trail. He was riding home late at night after working at Callahans in Port Dover. I believe his last name might have been Franklin. His parents lived on Highway 24 right at the end of the Lynn Valley Road. The older house right beside the pond. The man who was found guilty lived in an apartment building in Simcoe, I hope this is the case you were talking about. The teens bicycle was found in a corn field above the blue line hill. The teenager was taken to another location and murdered I believe

Yes...that's the one. I was trying to recall how many years this guy got for that murder?? There was not the same coverage of a story then as there is now.

I thought this young man (franklin) was found out by Otter Creek. I must be mistaken ... getting older and the memory is bad

I think you are corrrect about Otter Creek. He was taken from the site on the Blue Line where they found his bicycle and murdered ( I think by drowning) .

Because I walked past the apt. buildings on Oak St. and wondered if the guy was "home again, " that's all. Just wondering what happened to this "neighbour" in the west end....

If you know his name couldn't you find out if he's been released? I'm not sure exactly where that imformation would be available but I'm sure its out there.

I didn't really know him and didn't know his name...just remembered where he lived. And the circumstances.

Call me cking, I think I do remeber his name if you want to know. He probably isn't living back where he was as that was his mother's home ( I think she's passed away).

The Franklin boy's name was Jason or Jay and was in grade 11 if I remember when he was murdered. The guy that killed him lived in the apartment buildings with his mother right on the corner across the street from BJ's but back then, it was Becker's.
