| I'd check the furnace filter and the a/c filter outside. Try restarting. Check the fuses. Could be the compressor or freon levels. Then ask Wickens!!! | |

| if the air is 'trickling' out of your vents, if it is slow this is a furnace issue, not the central air unit itself (the big noisy box outside) slow air indicates that you main filter (the one on the furnace intake) is badly plugged or that the belt on the blower is loose or worn | |

| And you will need that air in the next few days. Hopefully it's not a big fix. | |

519-586-1018 (pager please leave message) 519-428-2826 (Home) technician.11@*******.com I'm pretty sure he won't come where I live We had a guy come out here last night he checked everything and said it was fine it cost us $127.50 and it did seem like the air was colder coming out of the registers. 5 minutes after he left it went back to the trickling.. we called back and he said he would have someone call us at 8:30am today this morning, there's basically nothing.. the air is not even cold anymore

| I used to work for Sinneave Heating in Langton....and worked on my share of a/c and heating systems... Like it was already stated...."trickling" air can only be caused by a clogged air filter, clogged radiator, or bad fan motor or anything to do with the motor, wires, belts, etc... The outside unit has nothing to do with airflow, it simply cools the freon that circulates through the rad that's inside your furnace. Good luck! | |

| yep nothing wrong with the unit.. fuses are fine, the one line is cool and sweating (not frozen) and the other is warm (not hot) to the touch. I cleaned the outside unit this morning to be sure downstairs the air ducts.. one is cold the other is what seems to be room temp.. so that seems fine the company I deal with is giving me a headache. I paid $130.00 for them to "fix" the problem and it wasn't fixed. I paid another $32.00 today and it still isn't functioning. The guy that was here gave me the wait until Tuesday and we'll service your furnace (a service I paid for and should've been done in the Winter and they never showed up) | |

| That's pretty frustrating and very bad timing. That's about the time I would get someone else to do the job next time. Besides if they are skilled technicians their troubleshooting and diagnostic skills are pretty poor. | |

| I called a different company and the guy checked something around back with the unit and came in and said there is a clog somewhere. they cut a hole in the furnace and checked the coils.. all clogged up. I guess changing the filter before yesterday slipped our mind for a bit air is flowing better.. still doesn't seem as good as last year but, the guy said give it time as the house is very humid. thanks for everyone's help and suggestions.. and thanks Wickens for the reccomendation except I am hours away from Norfolk County these days (I miss "home") on another note I hope the other company is happy with the money we gave them yesterday and this morning to "fix" the problem.. it's the last cent we will be giving them. | |

| try new batteries in your thermostat... sometimes weak batterries will do funky things with your furnace, etc.
it's cheap to try and only takes a minute to do

| I don't like to but in on everyone's advise but I too used to service these units. I would really check the furnace fan squirrel cage, maybe remove it and blow it out as dirt over the years will clog it up and stop air flow tremendously. Just my thoughts. | |

| Sometimes the coils inside the furnace will ice up .That will stop the airflow.Shut the unit down overnight and retry in the morning. The ice will have melted and air flow will resume.Try to start only in the morning and the temp drop and humidity removal will be slower and the condensation build up on the coil won,t occur as rapid and plug the coil with ice. |

| Good call Rye. Another thing is don't buy cheap filters and change them. If you have to mark it on your calendar and do it on the date you've marked. Fitlers have a Rsomething ..something code on them. Most households need the mid range and cost should be about $8-$10. each. If you change them every 3 months it would run you about $40. a year. Probably less than a service call. Am I right, Rye? | |

| After all is said and done, what was the actual cause of your central air conditioner not cooling properly? Just curious | |

| Justice, I don't think I would be so philosophical if someone ripped me for over $100 . You called for a service ,they billed you so they must of felt they provided that service ,they didn't so you should get a refund ,end of story. If they can't get it right they need better training or to find another line of work .I would phone them and ask for my money back. | |

Here's my two cents: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER, NEVER PAY FOR ANY SERVICE UNTIL IT IS FINISHED!!! ON top on paying them $162 to fix the furnace now, you pre-paid for service that was supposed to be done last winter, but never was? If a company asks for 'up front' money for repairs, regular servicing...beware and be afraid. Too many people get sucked in by unethical businesses. Leasa

Heck yes. Changing the filter at the beginning of each season is a good practice because it's easy enough to remember
