| Our place is sooo dry that after it rained for 40 days and 40 nights, we had to water our lawns 3 days later. | |

| But I thought Ike was a hurricane, only powerful over oceans??? Loses its source of power once it hits landfall. I guess the rainfall though will be the after-effects for us. But not the devastation of raging winds. | |

| Don't forget Hurricane Hazel.
Hurricane Hazel
She did not dissipate when she hit land but rather intensified. | |

| "It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents--except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness." --Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, Paul Clifford (1830) ....and gusts upto 100 k tonight.... | |

| Very strange weather. We just came back from "a walk on the wild side!!" Crazy wind! Kind of spooky..like Halloween! Have to be careful that a branch doesn't drop on your head! Supposed to drop to 17 by tomorrow morning. And no rain forecast for the rest of the week. And perhaps that coolness will get rid of this soggy humidity! | |
