| With someone called Cat Powers, maybe this should be under the Animals/Pets forum!
Does anyone still like wrestling? The WWE and all that? Watched something on Dateline the other night about Chris Benoit and etc. They concluded that his breakdown was NOT due to steroid rage...but rather to protein buildup in his brain that gave him the brain of an 85 year old with dementia. Brain damage from all the concussions has traumatized his brain over the years in the WWF.
Of course Vince McMahon had no comment.
Anyone still watching wrestling as in the 80's?

I watch WWE Raw on Mondays and the occsaional PPV. My father is a fanatic. He watches Raw (monday), ECW (tuesday), Smackdown (friday) and TNA (wednesday, I think). Now he just needs one to be on thursday and he'll be all set for the week. LOL

| I heard an interesting comment on Dateline re. wrestling.
In the 80's, they insisted that it was NOT fixed and that it was a valid "sport." (There was no doubt in my mind that with all the gymnastics and leaps, one would have to be in proper condition and at a superior fitness level!)
Now, in the 2000's, they insist it IS choreographed (much like theatre,) it IS entertainment and the winners ARE pre-arranged...mostly in order to PREVENT it being identified as a true "sport" with the accompanying need for....DRUG testing!
How things change! | |

| I used to be fascinated by those masked Mexican wrestlers! They were all about flexibility and high-flying gymnastics! The athleticism was amazing! | |

I saw them both wrestle at the Talbot Street Arena back in the mid-1970's. Back in those days the arena drew nice crowds for Wrestling three or four times per Summer. The Roller Derby also came there a few times.
